I make your texts better by making you better

I have 20 years of experience as a professional writer, mainly in the academic world. I improve texts and other content by promoting clarity, good flow and a seamless integration of text and images. I write in native-level English, edit texts and review articles & books. I make your stories better through linguistics-driven, inquiry-based editing and feedback (see blog posts), combined with visual storytelling. I also teach writing and presenting in academic English.

Editing / Proofreading

I have edited books, articles and websites for publishers of academic and art books, as well as private businesses.

I was a proofreader and corrector for the books Exhibiting for Multiple Senses: Art and Curating for Sensory-Diverse Bodies edited by Eva Fotiadi, and Platform Brutality: Closing Down Internet Toxicity by Geert Lovink, both published by Valiz in 2025.

I edited the book Superstorm: Design and Politics in the Age of Information by Noemi Biasetton and published by Onomatopee in 2024.

I am one of the scientific co-editors of the Routledge Handbook of Linguistic Prescriptivism, published by Routledge in 2023.

I was guest editor for a special issue (37/3) of the Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development entitled “Attitudes to Prescriptivism”, published by Taylor & Francis in 2015.

I have also edited and rewritten texts for the websites of Team Experiences UK.

Writing

The articles and chapters I write are mainly to communicate within the scientific community.

These publications disseminate specialist knowledge and require peer reviewing to ensure the high level of quality and reliability associated with scientific research.

In 2024, I wrote a short play, Recipes for Life – Side A, which was performed on 6 February 2025 at The Black Cat Theatre in Amsterdam.

Teaching

I have taught English academic writing at several of the major universities in The Netherlands.

Academic publishing uses a specialised genre that requires a specific form of language use known as Academic English. This is useful if you want to improve your writing (and presenting) skills in Academic English.

I will help you master this special form of English, while at the same time improving your writing and thinking processes.

I am available for young academics (native or non-native speakers of English) who are new to this very specific genre, as well as more established academics who have not published (much) in English before.
